Navigating My Path To Teaching

In response to Mrs. Stevens Blog,

I did some research on some colleges for becoming a teacher, and here are some colleges that offer the education programs that I am looking for.

The University of Texas at Arlington has a Teacher Education program available.
Now, we all now that coming into college, there will be some costs.

  • The estimated tuition for being at UTA, is $9,152.
  • There are a couple different scholarships available from UTA. These might include; Applegate/Jackson/Parks Future Teachers Scholarship, Mary Lynn Crow Scholarship, and the Frank Gault Endowed Scholarship, Fred Wiesner Educational Excellence Scholarship.

Stephen F. Austin State University also has a Teacher Education program available.

  • The tuition costs for SFA is estimated to be around $3,154 if you are a resident of Texas and are going in for 12 hours.
  • Some scholarships that are available for SFA may include;  Smith, Lester, & Frances Rhymes Scholarship, and the Smith, Eugene, & Florine Scholarships.

Now, you can't just become a teacher with the snap of a finger. There are steps to becoming a teacher.
These steps include;
1. Education
2. Earning your Teaching Credential.
3. Finding a job.
4. Your Teaching Career

One State I would like to teach in, would be Montana.
Some reasons I would like to teach in Montana, would be that;
1. If I were to have a masters degree in Education, then I would be able to make a higher income than teachers with a bachelors degree.
2. If I were to join the Public Employee's Retirement System, then I would be able to get benefits for when I retire.
3. I would have the opportunity to have 2 different types of certifications for classroom teaching.
4. Having a master's degree will give me the benefits of having more hands-on skills in a classroom.
5. I would be eligible for the Teacher's Grant, which gives financial aid to students, in return for an agreement for teaching in a high-need school.

Along with teaching in Montana, the salary is included below:
$41,095 per year.

TEACHING ABROAD:

Although I wouldn't prefer to teach in another country, it would be a very interesting experience.
In order to get certified to teach abroad, you can follow these helpful steps;
1. Meet with your college advisor.
2. Stop by the International or Study Abroad Department.
3. Choose your destination wisely and prepare yourself.
4. Raise funds.

I hope this blog was helpful to you, and I made it worth your time to look over my blog!
